*** If there is something, anything, that you don't finish, you must make a note of it in the comments section along with a brief explanation. It is frustrating to sit down to work out the next day's assignments and discover that you didn't do what was assigned previously.
Also, telling me that you think "he" (What's his name? You should be referring to the characters by name by this time.) is gay, is not the same as following the directions under yesterday's A Farewell to Arms.
Either do what's assigned (everything, every subject, including housework) OR make a note in the comments about why you didn't.

Without these explanations, I will no longer adjust assignments around unfinished work and you will be expected to finish before moving on to anything else. USE YOUR TIME WELL.

This is my last reminder before we switch to a paper format where you will check off items as you finish.

Discussion: As a former teacher and as a former college students, I've wondered how Google, etc. has affected the writing of research papers. Looking for simple info, I found numerous websites for teachers where they can input material and a bot will scan and find any duplicate material. Wow!!

Okay, you were getting very close, so I think you can go ahead and finish this. BUT if it's still difficult, STOP and show me specifically what it is that's giving you trouble. It could very easily be an issue with the program itself and I would really like to know. -- IXL Level K, II.1

The Gift Outright - Robert Frost

Robert Frost was a frequent visitor [to Key West], and served as U.S. poet laureate in 1958-59. Frost first visited Key West in 1934 and wrote one of his best-known poems, "The Gift Outright," on the island. He subsequently paid winter visits to Key West from 1945 to 1960, staying in a small cottage behind the home of local hostess and preservationist Jessie Porter. Once a historic house museum, today Porter's home and the cottage, which has been named a National Literary Landmark, are privately owned and no longer open to the public.

Click to see Carey House. Look at the list of the people who've gathered there.

This poem is technically a sonnet, though unusual in this form because of its sixteen lines. It is written in iambic pentameter and free verse.
This poem was written as early as 1936, but Frost did not publish it until 1941, a few months after the United States entered World War II. Although it had already achieved a level of familiarity and fame among the American public, “The Gift Outright” received special attention when Frost recited it at the inauguration of President John F. Kennedy on January 20, 1961. Frost had originally planned to recite a poem entitled “Dedication” that he had written for the event. However, because of the glare of the sun and his poor eyesight (he was eighty-seven years old at the time), he was unable to read his copy of the poem and instead recited “The Gift Outright.”

      Foreshadowing
      Definition:
The literary device foreshadowing refers to the use of indicative word or phrases and hints that set the stage for a story to unfold and give the reader a hint of something that is going to happen without revealing the story or spoiling the suspense. Foreshadowing is used to suggest an upcoming outcome to the story.
      Example:
“He had no idea of the disastrous chain of events to follow”. In this sentence, while the protagonist is clueless of further developments, the reader learns that something disastrous and problematic is about to happen to/for him.
